About Angelica
Certified Birth Doula - Madriella Doula Network - Somatic Arts & Sciences Institute.
Bachelor’s Degree in English and Philosophy from UW-Madison.
“The days and weeks after baby arrives are a deep, vital time for parents. First time moms may feel at sea when waking up to their new role. Those who are already parents may need extra assistance adapting to their larger family, with more small people to care for. As a postpartum doula, I support mothers and their partners during this crucial time by first determining where I can be most useful, then providing support through being a listening ear, showing techniques, assisting in housework, and providing newborn care while mom gets much needed sleep.
Through my role as a birth doula, I seek to support mothers through the immense physical and mental challenge of bringing a new human into this world. This support can take the form of relaxation techniques, light massage, encouraging and compassionate words, sharing knowledge, and simply a calm, unconditionally positive energy.
I first came to this work during the summer of 2022, when current events at that time directed my attention to women’s health.I felt jolted awake to the fact that I could be jumping into the thick of things as a positive force for my fellow women. From my time as a college student seeking my degree in English and Philosophy to years spent in the service industry, I know deeply the importance of emotional support and encouragement. Our minds are deeply affected by what is happening in our bodies, in addition to our bodies responding more than one would expect to what is happening in our minds. Nowhere is this mind-body connection more evident than a woman experiencing the birth of her child!”
